Magic March here we come Another 5cm of snowfall overnight to top up the runs which are in great condition. Tomorrow will be one of those magic bluebird days here in Nozawa Onsen, we should then see some light snow during the middle of next week. Let’s hope that march brings some great snowfall! It’s the weekend with snow tonight Welcome to Nozawa snow report, we woke up to a bit of sunshine and scattered cloud this morning, this is forecast to develop into light snow by this evening. It looks like this will be the same for Sunday. We have great condition on piste at the moment so get up onto the mountain early to take advantage of those freshly groomed runs. Next weeks forecast looks to be a repeat of this weeks with snowfall followed by sunshine then snowfall with the heaviest dumping of snow at the end of the week. First light! Good morning everyone, it looks like we will have another blue bird day, then clouds are predicted rolling in this evening, so grab your cameras and get some great shots from the top of the mountain. The clouds should deliver light snow tonight and then light to moderate snow tomorrow and on Sunday. While everybody was tucked in bed some early birds got to see the first light of dawn and the photo shows it was worth the effort. February keeps on delivering! Good morning everyone, we had 12cm during the day yesterday and 3cm over night, there is a chance of light snow today and tomorrow. The forecast for the weekend looks good for a moderate dump of snow which should add to the 365cm base we have at the moment. The quality of this seasons snow has been a talking point with a lot of people here in Nozawa Onsen, one of our snowboard instructors who has over 20 year of snowboarding under his belt all over the world said he found the best powder of his life yesterday, so Nozawa Onsen is certainly delivering. We woke up to snowfall again! (10cm overnight) It’s always a good sign when the road to the Gondola is covered with snow in the morning. It seems we are on a snowfall, sunshine, snowfall, sunshine, snowfall, sunshine repeat patten of weather at the moment as we have sunshine predicted for tomorrow and then snow again the following day. The longer range forecast at this stage has sunshine at the beginning of next week, then what looks to be a heavy snow dump in the second half of the week. 6cm overnight… More to come tonight! We woke up to snow today and the snow should continue throughout the day and tomorrow with the heaviest fall at night. We’ll see the sun on Thursday at this stage and more snow coming over the weekend. We’re looking at a good end to February and fingers crossed conditions continue for March. Stealth powder day here again in Nozawa (70cm in 24 hours) We’ve had a heap of snow fall over the last 24 hours and it’s still continuing today! Shovelling will be happening around town and there will be fun to be had on the mountain. A lot of snow fall means you need to be a little more vigilant up there, stay safe and ride with a friend. Snow Season Nozawa Onsen – The Wrap and Outlook The 2017/18 Season would so far be classified as a ” Good Season” in Nozawa Onsen. Looking at the snow stats it is just an average season on snowfall. Not the hugest we have had by any means but not light on either. We don’t get too many bad seasons in Nozawa, even in the worst snow season in 80 years we got to a 245cm base at the peak! This season had something for everyone and most people visiting left with smiles on their faces. December gave us some of those massive 1 meter plus dumps but outside of that it has been more manageable and enjoyable 30cm average falls. […]
