Best Powder Day Nozawa
It’s one of those days… One of the BEST days of the year… A POWDER DAY! This is what people travel all over the world from to come ski and ride.
With yesterday’s high winds, the upper mountain was closed all day… What this means for riders today is plenty of untouched fresh powder to claim first tracks on!
Take care skiing and snowboarding in the powder. I’d recommend riding with at least one other person, just in case you lose a ski or pole and have to dig around in the snow.
It’s still very cold out there, perfect temperatures for preserving the fresh powder, but wrap up warm – goggles and muffs are highly recommended. So cold in fact that it was all the talk at the onsen last night of water pipes freezing which is rare in town. All my windows are frozen solid today. Here is a link in what to expect month to month on the weather in Nozawa; https://www.nozawaholidays.com/snow-conditions/
Temperature at the top; -10 degrees on Yamabiko and -13 degrees on Uenotaira!
New snow since yesterday; 20cm of sweet pow
Base at the top; 240cm huge jump in just a few days
Snow conditions; Another huge dumping of fresh powder, chase those first tracks!
Weather; Light snow showers
LIFTS IN OPERATION:
All lifts bar Challenge Double, Utopia Double and Karasawa Double are open.
RUNS OPEN: All runs bar Yunomine A, Challenge 39. Deg Wall, Grandprix and Half Pipe are open. Kandahar has restricted access again.
The fresh powder will just keep coming this week! Today’s light snow showers will get heavy in the evening, with another 20cm dump by tomorrow morning. Friday will see more light snow showers during the day and 40cm overnight. The snow just keeps on coming and Saturday will bring another 40cm. Check back tomorrow for the latest update.
