Shoveling out the sled early this morning
Yesterday’s odd conditions, including some fairly wet snow and even a spur of rain, got us all a bit worried. However that was soon all eased after the snow started to fall heavily again in the afternoon and all night long. We received a few centimeters throughout the day yesterday and twenty centimetres since the closing of the lifts yesterday. There’s some good powder to be found up there!
All the powderhounds’ boards are waiting in the line for the gondola, with everyone excited for first tracks. Temperatures are dropping back down today, sitting at around -6° Celsius. Light snow will continue to fall before easing up later, and westerly winds will be mild, with most areas of the mountain well protected.
We advise you to take precautions if heading into the backcountry and never go alone, There isn’t enough snow yet for it to be safe territory. There are tried and tested ways to mitigate any incidents and make it an enjoyable experience when there is enough snow!
