Nozawa Onsen Spring Snow Report, 20th March 2019
More sun on the menu for today, ladies and gents. Magic March has given us all the great ingredients of spring skiing. There’s been sun, blue sky and a liberal dose of fresh powder snow. Today is shaping up to be another beauty. Temperatures will maintain a fairly high level on the thermometer throughout today and tomorrow. Whilst today is all about sunshine, the weather around tomorrow may fall as rain. Let’s hope for an unexpected drop of the mercury and we get some more snow.
Further on into the next week, temperatures look as though they’ll plummet once again. Friday night looks as though it’s our best chance for more fresh snow.
What’s the official word from the top of the mounain?
At 7:18 am;
Temp at the top; 0C
New snow since close; 0cm
Base at the top; 300cm
We still have a very respectable base of three metres up top. As such, things are looking good for the rest of the season ahead. All going according to current plans, we should be sliding around up there right up until the end of Golden Week in early May. This means there’s still plenty of fun to be had in Nozawa Onsen, in addition to discounted accommodation and lift passes. still about six weeks to get up here and pair a Japan holiday with a few turns on Mount Kenashi.
