Operations Manager – Nozawa Holidays
Location: Nozawa Onsen, Nagano, Japan
Nozawa Holidays has been welcoming guests from around the world for over 20 years. Located in the heart of one of Japan’s most famous ski and hot spring villages, we manage a portfolio of unique lodges, self-contained apartments, chalets, a rental shop, and a ski school. With our reputation for warm hospitality and authentic local experiences, we are proud to be a trusted accommodation provider year-round.
We are now seeking a motivated and experienced Operations Manager to lead our team and oversee the smooth operation and continued growth of our business.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strong leadership across all properties and teams, ensuring consistently high levels of guest satisfaction.

Manage daily operations including front office, housekeeping, and guest services.

Oversee seasonal staff recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.

Monitor guest feedback and continuously improve service standards and reviews.

Manage budgets, cost controls, and financial reporting.

Collaborate with the reservations and sales team to drive occupancy and revenue.

Liaise with property owners, local suppliers, and community stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal requirements.

Contribute to marketing initiatives and long-term business development.
Key Requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience in hotel, resort, or hospitality management in a senior leadership role.

Strong leadership, people management, and team-building skills.

Excellent communication skills in English (Japanese language ability highly desirable but not essential).

Solid business acumen, with proven ability to manage budgets, KPIs, and operations effectively.

Guest-focused mindset with a passion for creating memorable experiences.

Flexibility and adaptability in a seasonal ski resort environment.

A love of the mountains, skiing, snowboarding, or outdoor lifestyle is a plus!

Additional Requirements

Must have Japanese residency or be eligible for a work visa.

Must be available for the entire ski season (December–April). Depending on the applicant, there may be opportunities for year-round work in Nozawa Onsen or remotely.
