Today brings a misty morning in the valley, while clear skies greet skiers and snowboarders higher up the mountainâa beautiful mix to kick off the third day of the season. Late Novemberâs snowfall has laid a solid foundation, drawing eager visitors to the slopes from early hours. With a 30cm base at the summit, Yamabiko D and Yamabiko E courses are currently open. Excitement is building as we anticipate the Uenotaira slope opening soon, and then more to follow, with heavy snowfall forecast for the weekend. Letâs keep the snow vibes rolling!
Meanwhile, Nozawa Onsen celebrated the first day of preparations for the iconic Dosojin Fire Festival yesterday. Locals came together to plan, craft, and commemorate the building of the symbolic shadenâtraditional pyres that form the heart of the festival. These intricately constructed towers represent prayers for good fortune, a bountiful harvest, and protection against evil spirits. The communal spirit and dedication to this cherished tradition highlight the deep cultural roots ð¥ð.

Looking ahead, weâre thrilled to see more than 50cm of fresh snow predicted by weekâs end, accompanied by a significant temperature drop to around -10°C. These conditions will ensure the snow stays pristine, setting us up for a magical second week of December on the slopes!
